| Thallus crustose, rimose to areolate, white, grey-white or pale greenish white, to 5 cm wide, 0.2–0.5 mm thick. Areolae irregular in outline, 0.5–0.7 mm wide, plane to subconvex, uneven, lacking isidia and soredia. Prothallus not apparent. Apothecia common, scattered, sessile, ±constricted at the base, 0.8–1.2 mm wide; disc ±plane, undulate or weakly convex, ±round, black, ±glossy, epruinose; thalline exciple usually developed, ±persistent, white, dull, rarely reduced; proper exciple colourless, 40–70 µm thick. Epihymenium dark violet-brown. Hymenium colourless to pale violet-brown, 55–65 µm thick, not inspersed. Hypothecium colourless to pale yellow-brown, 150–300 µm thick. Ascospores simple, ellipsoidal, thick-walled, 9–14 × 5–7 µm. Conidia filiform, straight, 11–14 × 1.0–1.5 µm. CHEMISTRY: Cortex K+ yellow, C–, KC–, P+ pale yellow; medulla K–, C–, KC+ pink, P–, UV+ blue-white; containing atranorin (minor), perlatolic acid (submajor), glomelliferic acid (major), anziaic acid (minor or trace), 4-O-methylolivetoric acid (minor), stenosporic acid (minor). |

| This endemic species occurs on sandstone in northern N.T. and the Kimberley region of northern W.A.; found in open Eucalyptus-Terminalia woodland (70–350 m). | ||
